Project e.V.

Since the beginning of the #1ermregister, we have strived for legal certainty but also acceptance by BMW.

After many emails, phone calls and personal meetings, we received feedback in January of this year that we are allowed to function as a type club under the umbrella organization BMW Classic and Type Clubs International.

And now comes the BUT:

For this purpose, an eV (legal entity) is required since the #1ermregister is currently managed by private individuals.

In the first step, 7 founding members are needed to establish an eV. These people can be from Germany and the EU.

But there are other reasons why we cannot avoid the need to set up an eV. Things like liability play a role, among others. An eV is held liable as a whole - not the individual members with their private assets.

This also makes it immediately clear that without eV there can and will be no more events in the future.

Am I now obliged to join an eV? NO!

The eV is an organization that pursues an idealistic purpose. Of course, everyone can decide for themselves how much they want to pursue this hobby.

Unfortunately, an eV incurs one-off and ongoing costs (notary, tax advisor, account management fees, contributions, insurance, internet provider), so we are of course dependent on every member.

An annual fee of 49 euros per membership (basic requirement: proof of BMW 1M owner or spouse/partner) is, in direct comparison, a fee that is rather "lower". However, this also results in advantages for club members (stickers, event discounts, etc.) and of course being part of a club that highlights the importance of BMW's history in the segment.

What if I don't want to become a member, but still liked the "old" register configuration? No problem!

There will continue to be a free "registration function" with no obligations/rights/costs. The aim from the beginning was to build a large community around the vehicle and we are continuing to pursue this goal. Of course, participation in events organized by the eV is still desired and highly recommended :-) Donations are also gladly accepted.

And now ?

We hope we have been able to explain to you clearly and openly the background to the formation of an association.

In the first step, we have put together a team of founding members who are now working on the statutes and logos. There will soon be a founding meeting with the aim of registering the association.

If you have any questions, please contact us via email.

As I said, we don't want to exclude anyone. We would like to invite everyone to join us on the journey of the official BMW Type Club for the BMW 1M Coupé.
